The Lovebird Quilt Pattern is finally here!
There were moments when I thought it was never going to happen, but we made it! And I’m pleased. Yep. ‘Pleased’ is the best way to describe how I feel about this latest release. I’m pleased I made it to the end. I’m pleased my pattern portfolio is growing (albeit slowly). I’m pleased that I’ve added another notch to my ‘designer’ belt. (And my husband’s probably pleased the pattern has been released because yesterday I cleaned the house.)
The design came about while I was researching ideas for the release of the Tilda fabric collection, Harvest. Even though it was inspired by the feathers of a bird, it really looks like offset hearts, and this is what most people see when they look at it, so I felt ‘Lovebird’ was an appropriate name because it touches on both aspects. Ok, I know this post is supposed to be about sewing machine servicing, but humour me for a second and imagine you’ve just picked up a brand new set of wheels. You’ve been waiting for ages. Saving your pennies. And finally (FINALLY!) you’re driving away in the car of your dreams. So, what’s the first thing that comes to mind as you ease out of the car dealership and onto the road?
Let me tell you what it’s not. (more…)
The Dragon & Bat Wings Add-on has technically been available now for about two weeks now – this is currently the story of my life. I’m late to most things, I’ve usually forgotten something, and my standards of dressing have significantly dropped. I am very pleased to be able to welcome this little addition to my pattern portfolio. (Remember the other three? The original Butterfly, the Lacewing and the Bumblebee!) It turned out pretty much exactly as I had hoped, which is a minor miracle considering post-partum baby brain. (Leo slept through last night for the first time! It was his 5 month birthday gift to me. So thoughtful of him really. Let’s hope it continues… EDIT: It has not.) (more…)
There are some things in life that should always be shared. Firstly… cake. Secondly… quilting books.
You can, therefore, imagine my excitement when I was asked to join in the blog tour for the release of ‘A Piece of Cake’ by Peta Peace of the delicious blog, She Quilts A Lot, and published by Martingale, because it happens to be a quilting book with cake on the cover! My prayers have been answered! (more…)
It’s my day on the Tilda Harvest blog hop! I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to sew with Tilda fabric. I have been a huge fan of the Tilda brand for a while. Tone’s style really appealed to me when I first started sewing, and hers was one of the first designer collections I spent my hard-earned cash on. I still have scraps of those first purchases in a special basket that houses only Tilda fabrics. I’m saving them up for a scrappy Tilda quilt. (more…)
